Explore the breathtaking Wekiwa River by canoe or kayak.

Park comprises approximately 7,000 acres of wild scenery that offers an opportunity to see how areas of central Florida looked when the Timucuan Indians speared fish in the spring-fed creeks and stalked the uplands.

Here we are staring out at the Wekiwa Springs. Wikiwa comes from a Creek Indian word meaning "bubbling water" or "spring of water" and is used to speak of the spring itself. Wekiva means "flowing water," and is used as the name of the river which is fed by Wekiwa Springs, seen in the picture below.

Wekiwa Springs State Park, located in central Florida, about 25 miles west of Orlando. As the park is blessed with abundant water, it has a diverse plant life which in turn supports a wide variety of animals including: deer, bobcats, raccoons, opossums and black bears.

This wonderful location is perfect for outdoor recreational activities such as swimming, canoeing, fishing, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, youth camping and backpack camping.
